Isobutavan (Vanillyl Isobutyrate) is a delightful gourmand chemical of white chocolate, cream soda and vanilla with nuances of apricot. It is indispensable for soap perfumers where it is a non-discolouring alternative to vanillin which causes soaps to blacken with time. Isobutavan is less powdery than vanillin and has a more thickening effect on a blend which can be particularly useful when combined with that crystalline to add a richer and more complete vanilla note.
