Use (Hekserij)
Geraniol has a sweet floral scent reminiscent of, for example, geranium and
rose. The scent is medium strong and does not dominate quickly. Typical use is
in floral accords, but it also pairs well with citrus and other fruit scents.
You usually use between 0.5% and 20% of this substance in the fragrance
composition. It combines well with other floral scents other than rose and
geranium, adding a warm note. It is primarily a heart note in perfumes and is
stable in most products, including soaps and scented candles.
Physical properties
Properties (Hekserij)
Geraniol is one of the rose alcohols, a fragrance with a certain aspect of rose
scent. It therefore occurs in the scent of rose and in the natural rose extracts
such as the essential oil, the absolute and the rose water. It also occurs in
various other essential oils. For use as a fragrance, we almost always supply a
synthetic version with a purity of at least 98%.
