contribute enormously to a natural vanilla type base when blended with Vanillin

Usage

High-impact modifier for vanilla accords, sophisticated smoke effects,
leather compositions, minute traces for floral complexity.
Use (Hekserij)
Guaiacol has a strong scent reminiscent of wood fire and processed leather.
Because the smell is strong, making a dilution can be helpful. A dilution of,
for example, 10% in DPG is a good starting point. You usually use between a
trace and 0.5% of this substance in the fragrance composition. In slightly
higher concentration, it blends in with the smell of leather, castoreum and the
like. In the lower dose it goes well with floral scents such as hyacinth, ylang
ylang, narcissus, but also rose. In addition, it can form beautiful accords with
vanillin and other balsamic scents. It is mainly a base note in perfumes. Use in
soap is not recommended, the substance is not stable in it and can lead to
discoloration.

Physical properties

Guaiacol is a colorless to yellow liquid at room temperature. The purity is at
least 99%. The material has a fairly long shelf life, if stored correctly: cool,
dry, dark and in well-closed packaging. The substance occurs in nature, but the
synthetic version is used for use as a fragrance.
