Safranal is an incredibly high impact material that is felt in traces in a scent
(as you can see by our Attar of Three Roses demonstration formula below.
The IFRA restriction on this material is rather tragically strict (0.012% in
your finished product) but because of its high impact it is still our first
choice for a saffron note. If you need to boost it you can use Safraleine
[https://fraterworks.com/products/safraleine] which has no restriction in use
and is, in its own way, a beautiful product.

Creates authentic saffron effects in oriental compositions while adding
warm, spicy depth to tobacco and hay accords.
Use (Hekserij)
Safranal has a green spice scent that is primarily reminiscent of saffron. The
smell is quite strong, making a dilution of say 10% in DPG can therefore be
useful. Typical use is in leather chords, for example for aftershave. You
usually use a trace of up to 0.5% of this substance in the fragrance
composition. This limitation is not only because of the odor strength, it is
also quite an allergenic substance. In addition to being used in leather
accords, it can give interesting aspects in combination with green fragrances,
wood, spices or, for example, herbs. It is mainly a heart note in perfumes that
also penetrates into the base.

Safranal is a yellow liquid at room temperature, the purity is at least 92%. The
substance has a fairly long shelf life, especially when you consider that it is
an aldehyde. The substance occurs in nature, but the synthetic version is used
for use as a fragrance.
