Cardamom Absolute is a rich and long lasting extraction from green cardamom pods harvested in Guatemala. It has a similar profile to the essential oil but is much more intense. Despite being an absolute, it has a rather interesting and vibrant top note presence with a clear ginger nuance making it very useful from top to bottom as a replacer or booster for the oil. Owing to the high cost we offer this pure and diluted to 10% in natural triethyl citrate, an odourless extract from citrus. Interpreting Arctander: “Cardamom Oil has been used in perfumery for centuries, first written about in 1540 by Valerius Cordus. The oil is pale yellow to light brown and darkens in sunlight. Its scent starts strong and fresh, like eucalyptus, but softens into a warm, spicy, and woody aroma with a sweet floral touch. It is long-lasting and adds depth to any fragrance. In perfumes, cardamom oil brings a warm sweetness and spicy richness. It works well in floral bases like rose and lily of the valley. It also adds warmth to Oriental fragrances, chypres, and powdery scents. Cardamom blends beautifully with oils like bergamot, ylang-ylang, and labdanum.
