While cheap and cheerful carrot seed oil from India is widely available, the very precious Vaucluse carrot seed oil is not so. The French take their carrots very seriously and unlike we étrangers who like our vegetables crisp and cold, French gastronomes know that carrots are best after aging; limp and warm is the name of the game en France. Vaucluse is renowned for its carrots and, indeed, the seeds of the same. Vaucluse carrot seed oil is a wonderful blender for iris materials, adding naturalisation to synthetics and nuance to naturals. It has a slightly tangy quality with accents of earth after gentle rains, musky cumin seeds and sweet apricots. Comparing this oil to the Indian, we find the French to be vibrant and transparent with a very discreet carrot nuance, while the Indian oil has a decidedly muddy aspect which can stifle the delicate odour.
