Irisone® Alpha is a highly refined 90% pure form of Ionone Alpha and, as a result, is more costly. This is the Ionone Alpha of choice for particularly high quality products and is almost certainly the version of this chemical that you would want to use in making a violet or iris note. If you are constructing a rose accord or need a more general purpose ionone, we recommend our standard Ionone Alpha [https://fraterworks.com/products/ionone-alpha] offering instead. According to Arctander, “[Ionone Alpha is] used widely in perfume compositions of almost all types. It is many decades since the single floral Violet note was appreciated as a fragrance for cosmetic purposes, but lonone has found numerous other applications. The use of lonone in Rose bases is very common and generally well liked, and smaller amounts of lonone are used in woody, herbaceous, floral, balsamic, piney or Citrus-like fragrances.
