BLACK DATURA® is a powerful fragrance base developed by Master Perfumer Bertrand Duchaufour for Fraterworks. Inspired by the enigmatic Datura flower—renowned for its intoxicating beauty and hallucinogenic potency—this base explores the intersection of seduction and danger. Sweet, creamy floralcy is laced with soft spice and a narcotic depth that expands on skin like a velvet shadow. PERFUMERY USAGE BLACK DATURA® offers bold character and long-lasting diffusion, ideal for adding richness and mystery to florals, orientals, and modern chypres. It blends especially well with Tuberose, Cumin, Suederal®, and dark ambers. Use sparingly to add tension, or in full bloom as a central floral theme. PROCESS This complex base is composed of layered synthetic florals, trace spice notes, and select naturals, carefully balanced to reflect Datura’s rich scent and symbolic weight. The composition pushes the boundary between the hypnotic and the forbidden, staying true to the flower’s role in folklore and ritual.
