Oriental rose bases represent or replace natural rose oil (usually of Rosa x
damascena) in a fragrance. The term "oriental" or "d'Orient" referred to such
places as Persia from whence the Damascus rose originated.
Two oriental rose bases dominated the 20th century; the first was Rose D'Orient
