Primarily used as a stable alternative to Phenylacetaldehyde in floral compositions, particularly for hyacinth and lilac reconstructions, adding realistic foliage and stem notes. IUPAC Name: 2,2-dimethoxyethylbenzene

Use (Hekserij)

PADMA has a green, fresh floral scent, as well as earthy and nutty aspects. It is primarily used for green floral scents. A good example is hyacinth, but it also goes well with rose, lily of the valley and lilac. For example, fougère and leather perfumes can give some floral scent. The smell is not very strong. In perfumes it is mainly a heart note. Furthermore, it is an excellent and much more stable substitute for phenylacetaldehyde (phenylacetaldehyde), but the smell is less strong. To replace it in a formulation, it is best to use about 4-6 times as much PADMA as phenylacetaldehyde. Because it is not strong and overpowering, making a dilution is unusual.

At room temperature it is a clear, colorless to pale yellow liquid, the substance has a fairly long shelf life. The substance hardly occurs in nature, the synthetic version is used for use as a fragrance.
