Copying in the perfume industry is no new thing. Just as every perfume company has their own variant of Aventus these days, the perfumers of the past also made products inspired by their competitors. Jasmin Blanc [https://fraterworks.com/products/jasmin-blanc-638436] (231) of Chuit Naef & Cie so inspired master perfumers of Roure Bertrand that they came up with Jasmin 1109, a wonderful jasmine base with nuances of narcissus that would go on to become wildly popular and feature in the some of the greatest fragrances. Bernard Chant took the base with him to IFF where he was the head perfumer and used it liberally and often. Jasmin 1109 was used in Aramis (9% along with 23 natural oils and absolutes!), Calandre, Oscar (1977) for Oscar de la Renta, Miss Dior (16%) and so many more.
