The two main roses in perfumery are Rose Damascena and Rose Centifolia. Rose Damascena is rich, warm, and slightly spicy while Rose Centifolia is soft, fresh, and powdery. The latter is great for adding a soft rosy floralcy while the Damascena gives a bolder and more intense rose heart note. The finest extracts of Rose Centifolia are from Grasse (Rose de Mai [https://fraterworks.com/products/rose-de-mai-absolute]) but due to the extremely high cost, most harvests now come from Tunisia.
