Para-cresol presents a complex olfactory signature that shifts
dramatically with concentration—at higher levels, it delivers an intense
phenolic, medicinal, and animalic character reminiscent of horse stables, while
at extreme dilution, it reveals surprisingly delicate floral facets of
narcissus, ylang-ylang, and jasmine.

Cresol is one of the most versatile materials, finding use as a floraliser in
the direction of narcissus and an animaliser; without it such magnificent bases
such as Jasmin Blanc [https://fraterworks.com/products/jasmin-blanc-638436],
Animalia® CMP [https://fraterworks.com/products/animalia-animalis] and Animusk™
Extra [https://fraterworks.com/products/animusk] wouldn't exist.
Under IFRA 51 this has been restricted to a tiny 0.005% but its power makes it
still a fully useful material even at that level. It is perhaps one of the least
common "essentials".
Due to its potency, we sell Para Cresol in a 10% solution with DPG.
If you want something kinder and gentler, we recommend the ester of this
alcohol: Para Cresyl Caprylate
