Mellitis is the classical Givaudan mellis base launched in 1921. It features a
perfectly balanced heart of carnation accented by rose, jasmin and wild flowers.
It was a favourite of Jean Patou's perfumer Henri Almeras who used it in
overdose to great effect in Moment Supreme (1929) where he blended it with
lavender and aldehydes.
Mellitis can also be used as fixative base and small quantities add complexity
and warmth to any fragrance dry down. Use up to 14.9% in your finished product
for compliance with IFRA 50.
