Clematis flowers have no odour and so historically (like classic orchid bases,)
they are fantasy creations. This Fraterworks base is a restoration of the
wonderous Roure Clematis base of the 1930s which was used by Jean Carles in
combination with his Fleur de Tabac
[https://fraterworks.com/products/fleur-de-tabac] base to construct Shocking for
Schiaparelli in 1937, a wild perfume built around a heat of pink florals. It is
from this fashion house and fragrance that the colour “shocking pink” was born.
Wonderfully floral, rich and aldehydic, this clematis base would find a home in
a modern fragrance as easily as it did the classics of yesteryear.
