Iris Gris (1946) from Jacques Fath is perhaps the most famous of all perfumes
(amongst aficionados) and certainly the greatest Iris scent. It is now so rare
to find a bottle that the cost currently runs over $10,000 US for one ounce of
parfum! It was created by master perfumer Vincent Roubert who worked for Coty
and produced Knize Ten in collaboration with him as well as number of other
great scents like L'Aimant (1927) and A Suma (1934).
Fraterworks now presents this intricate and luxurious scent in compound form for
perfumers to understand and appreciate the odour of a masterpiece prior to
dilution and mass distribution. This is the true original formula and it is
loaded with Jasmin absolute and Rose de Mai from Grasse and, of course, an
overdose of natural iris.
Because the original contains IFRA prohibited Musk Xylene, this compound must
not be sold as a commercial fragrance. Sampling should be done by smelling strip
and this should not be applied to the skin.
Notes: Iris, Peach, Musk, Violet, Cedar, Vetiver, Lilac, Heliotrope, Carnation,
Rose de Mai, Sandalwood, Lily of the Valley, Tuberose, Jasmin de Grasse.
