Usage
Use (Hekserij)
The smell of Ambroxide (Sym) is difficult to place. Perfumers call this
fragrance direction 'Amber', a somewhat sweet, but also animal scent. It is also
one of the odor aspects of ambergris, an almost legendary fragrance. The scent
is strong, and certainly capable of overpowering other scents. It is also a
solid (powdered) substance. It is therefore advisable to make a dilution of, for
example, 10% in IPM. Solvents like DPG and TEC do not make a stable 10%
solution, in this case.
Physical properties
Properties (Hekserij)
Ambroxide (Sym) is a solid that we sell in the form of flakes. It dissolves in
many common fragrances and solvents. The purity is at least 99%. Ambroxide has a
long shelf life. Manufacturer of this synthetic fragrance is the German Symrise.
Other suppliers make the same molecule and sell it as Ambroxan, Ambrox and some
other names. We have chosen the Symrise product because it is a very good
quality and Symrise ensures that there is not too much difference in smell
between one delivery and the other. Apart from this somewhat higher quality,
there is no relevant difference between the various ambroxide-like substances
from the different manufacturers.
