Usage
Use (Hekserij)
Aphermate (IFF) has a fresh spicy scent, in addition, to a lesser extent,
various other odor aspects. For example, think of earth, beach, lavender,
coniferous wood, some even smell apple! The smell is not very strong, so it can
be used undiluted. You usually use between 0.1% and 10% of this substance in the
fragrance composition, but it certainly lends itself to overdosing. It combines
well with green and spicy scents, as well as citrus and wood. It is primarily a
top note in perfumes and is fairly stable in many products, such as soaps and
scented candles.
Physical properties
Properties (Hekserij)
Aphermate (IFF) is a colorless and sometimes light yellow liquid at room
temperature. Also known as cyclocitronellene format, it is the ester of
cyclocitronellenol and formic acid. The purity is at least 80%, the substance
has a fairly long shelf life. The substance does not occur in nature, it is made
synthetically by IFF.
