Aurantiol 50% in DPG has the scent of orange blossom. The smell is quite strong,
it can be used undiluted, but a further dilution to 10% aurantiol can be useful
in certain cases. It is an excellent substance for adding an orange blossom
aspect where it is desired, such as in floral perfumes. It is virtually
indispensable in orange blossom components, although the pure variant can often
be used there as well. With citrus scents, Aurantiol 50% can add a floral
effect. It is mainly a base note in perfumes.
Physical properties

Aurantiol 50% in DPG is a strongly colored orange-red liquid at room
temperature. The substance has a fairly long shelf life and does not occur in
nature. It is a mixture of equal weights of aurantiol (in general Auralva from
IFF) and dipropylene glycol. The dilution is useful not only because of the
strong odor of pure aurantiol, but also because aurantiol is highly viscous, the
dilution is easier to use.
