Usage
Use (Hekserij)
Benzyl acetate has a sweet, fruity floral scent reminiscent of candies, though
some think of nail polish remover when they smell it. The fragrance is not very
strong, so it can be used undiluted. Benzyl acetate is widely used and often in
larger quantities. Use it as a general floral scent, in blossoms, jasmine and
other white flowers. It is also a valuable component in more green floral scents
such as lily of the valley and lilac. Besides for flowers, it is also used in
fruit scents such as almond and apple scents. You usually use between 2% and 30%
of this substance in the fragrance composition. It is primarily a top note in
perfumes and is stable in most products, even reasonable in soap.
Physical properties

Benzyl acetate is a clear, colourless to pale yellow liquid at room temperature.
The substance has a fairly long shelf life, only quite some time after the
expiration date the fragrance will change from the standard. The substance
occurs in nature, for example in flowers of jasmine, hyacinth and gardenia. For
use as a fragrance, the synthetic version is used, in general we supply a
Symrise product.
