Usage
Use (Hekserij)
cis-3-Hexenol has an scent reminiscent of freshly cut grass. The fragrance is
strong, you can easily overdose on this substance. Making a dilution of, for
example, 10% or even 1% can therefore be useful. It mixes quite well with
ethanol, DPG and TEC. Typical use is in green accords, especially from grass and
wild flowers. You usually use less than 1% of this substance in the fragrance
composition. It combines well with floral scents, but also with citrus and fruit
scents. A good component for the sepal aspect in green floral scents such as
lily of the valley and lime blossom. It adds a natural green touch to the scent.
In perfumes it is mainly a top note, it is reasonably stable, but it is not
recommended for soap.

cis-3-Hexenol is a colourless to pale yellow liquid at room temperature. The
purity is at least 98% and the substance has a reasonably long shelf life. It
occurs in nature, but for use as a fragrance the synthetic version is used. This
is largely based on vegetable raw materials.
