Usage
Use (Hekserij)
Dimetol (Giv) has a fresh, green herbal scent reminiscent of linalool: spicy,
lavender, some blossom and citrus. The scent is not particularly strong,
undiluted use is common. Typical use is in floral accords, especially of rose
and violet. You usually use between 0,1% and 8% of this substance in the
fragrance composition. It is about as versatile as linalool and can partly
replace it; it fits in citrus, spicy, wood and various other scents. It has the
advantage over linalool that it is normally not allergenic. The difference is
that it has more of a citrus character than linalool. In perfumes it is mainly a
top note, it is stable in almost all products, also in soap and even in bleach.

Dimetol (Giv) is a colourless to light yellow liquid at room temperature. The
purity is at least 98% and the substance has a fairly long shelf life. It is a
synthetic substance. The manufacturer is Givaudan.
