Essential oil Bay Saint Thomas leaf has a spicy scent with aspects of wood and
citrus. It goes well with other spice scents, but also with citrus. It adds a
touch of natural freshness to spice and a spicy background to citrus. You
usually use between 0,1% and 3% of this substance in the fragrance composition.
It is mainly a top note in perfumes. It can be used in soap, but you will lose
some of the scent.

Bay Saint Thomas leaf essential oil is a pale yellow to brown liquid at room
temperature. The substance is sensitive to light and oxygen, so it has a limited
shelf life. The oil is made by steam distillation from the leaves of the West
Indian laurel, AKA Bay Saint Thomas or Pimenta racemosa (Mill.) J.W.Moore. In
addition to this botanical name, Pimenta acris is used. Note: essential oil of
the common laurel is sometimes sold as Bay oil, but has a different scent and
origin. Like any essential oil, this one is also a mixture of various
substances. An indication of the composition is the following:
> 25% - Eugenol, Myrcene
10-25% - para Allylphenol
2-5% - Limonene, Linalool
