Usage

Essential oil Cypriol has an intense scent with aspects of leather, wood,
vetiver, earth and spices. Because of this strong scent, a dilution of for
example 10% can be useful, TEC is a suitable solvent. It fits well in leather
and wood accords, especially sandalwood and oud, but is also a very nice
modifier for vanilla. You usually use between 0,1% and 3% of this substance in
the fragrance composition. It is mainly a base note in perfumes. Unfortunately,
little information is available about its stability.

Essential oil Cypriol is a light yellow to green-brown liquid at room
temperature. The substance has a fairly long shelf life. The oil is made by
hydrodistillation from the roots of the Cyperus scariosus R. Br.. Like every
essential oil, this one is also a mixture of various substances, such as
cyperene, alpha copaene, rotundone and rotundene. The characteristic scent is
caused by very small amounts of nitrogen-containing molecules, mainly pyridines.
