Usage
Use (Hekserij)
Ethyl butyrate has a fruity scent reminiscent of pineapple and candies. The
smell is not particularly strong, undiluted use is usual. Characteristic use is
in fruit accords, not only of pineapple, but also of, for example, apple,
cherry, strawberry, apricot, peach... . You usually use between 0,1% and 5% of
this substance in the fragrance composition. It adds a warm fruitiness to the
fragrance. In perfumes it is mainly a top note, it is stable in most pH neutral
products.

Ethyl butyrate is a colourless to slightly yellow liquid at room temperature.
The material has a fairly long shelf life. It occurs in nature, but for use as a
fragrance, the synthetic version is used.
