gamma Decalacton has a fragrance with aspects of peach peel, coconut and
osmanthus, among others. Obviously, it is an excellent fragrance for creating
fragrances in those directions. In addition, in smaller quantities it goes well
with many other scents. Gourmand and lactonic chords for example. The substance
also feels at home in musk and amber scents and in some fruit and floral
accords. In many compositions you will only want to use a small amount, making a
10% dilution (in DPG for example) can be useful. In perfumes it is a heart to
base note.
Physical properties

gamma Decalactone is a clear, colorless to pale yellow liquid at room
temperature. The purity is at least 96%, the substance has a long shelf life.
The substance occurs in nature, for example in Osmanthus flowers. For use as a
fragrance, it is synthetically imitated.
