Usage
Use (Hekserij)
Hexalon (IFF) has a spicy fruit scent like that of an unpeeled pineapple and
other tropical fruits. The smell is not very strong, so it can be used
undiluted. Typical use is in fruit accords, but it also goes well with greenish
and spicy scents. Especially recommended is the combination with other ionones
such as methyl ionone, it has the same harmonizing effect on fragrance mixtures.
You usually use between 0.1% and 10% of this substance in the fragrance
composition. It is primarily a base note in perfumes and is stable in most
products, including soap.
Physical properties
Properties (Hekserij)
Hexalon (IFF) is a colorless to pale yellow liquid at room temperature. The
substance has a fairly long shelf life and does not occur in nature. A small
amount of BHT has been added as an antioxidant. The manufacturer of Hexalon is
IFF. The generic name is alpha allyljonone, Givaudan also makes alpha
allyljonone, but under the name Cetone V.
