Usage
Use (Hekserij)
Isoamyl acetate has a fruity odour reminiscent of, for example, banana or ripe
pear. The smell is not particularly strong, undiluted use is common. Typical use
is in fruit accords, such as those of banana, pear and tropical fruit. You
usually use between 0,1% and 2% of this substance in the fragrance composition.
It combines well with other fruit scents, as well as fruity floral scents. In
perfumes it is an absolute top note, the scent is almost gone from the blotter
within a minute. It is not stable in soap, nor in acidic products like many
deodorants.

Isoamyl acetate is a colourless to pale yellow liquid at room temperature. The
purity is at least 98% and the substance has a fairly long shelf life. It occurs
in nature, including in various fruits.
