Jasmine absolute has a sweet scent reminiscent of jasmine, lilac, but also
cattle in the meadow or leather. The fragrance is not particularly strong,
therefore jasmine absolute can be used undiluted. Making a dilution is not
unusual because it is an expensive substance, but in practice it is not very
useful. It is a versatile substance that goes especially well with floral
accords of flowers such as jasmine, daffodil, lilac. In addition, in tropical
fruit scents and of course in amber perfumes. You usually use between 0.1% and
5% of this substance in the fragrance composition. Do not use too little: if it
does not contribute to the odor quality of the end product, it is better to
leave it out. On the other hand, it can have a significant impact on a scent,
often already in a somewhat lower dose. It is mainly a heart and base note in
perfumes and is stable in most products, also in soap it is fairly stable,
although it is usually not used in them because of the price.

Jasmine absolute is a yellow to orange liquid at room temperature, which may
turn red as the substance ages. The substance has a pretty long shelf life. It
is an absolute, an extract that is made with certain solvents, such as hexane or
alcohol. These solvents are removed as best as possible from the extract. The
fragrance comes from the petals of the Jasminum grandiflorum L..
