Linalyl acetate has a fresh, somewhat green floral fragrance reminiscent of
lavender and bergamot. The scent is not very strong, and undiluted use is
common. It is a very versatile fragrance ingredient that can be used in almost
any perfume and fragrance composition. You usually use between 1% and 30% of
this substance in the fragrance composition. It combines well with almost
everything. It adds a not too pronounced note with fresh, green and floral
aspects. In perfumes, it is mainly a top note and it is quite stable. It can
also be used in soaps, but it can be problematic in very acidic products.

Linalyl acetate is at room temperature a colourless to light yellow liquid. The
purity is at least 97% and the substance has a relatively long shelf life. It
occurs in nature in various plants and therefore also in many types of essential
oil. For use as a fragrance, the synthetic version is used. We usually supply
the product from Symrise (Linalyl acetat coeur), but occasionally it may come
from another supplier.
