Usage
Use (Hekserij)
Mayol (Fir) has a green floral scent reminiscent of, for example, lily of the
valley. The smell is not very strong, so it can be used undiluted. You usually
use between 0.1% and 15% of this substance in the fragrance composition. It is
mainly used in floral scents, in green floral scents such as reseda in larger
quantities. In much less green scents such as jasmine, rose, magnolia and the
like, often in smaller quantities. In citrus scents, for example bergamot, it
can be used in traces, adding a floral touch to the citrus. It is primarily a
heart note in perfumes and is stable in most products, including soap.
Physical properties

Mayol (Fir) is a colorless to pale yellow at room temperature. The purity is at
least 98% (sum of both isomers), with the cis isomer being the most abundant.
The substance has a fairly long shelf life and does not occur in nature. The
manufacturer is the Swiss Firmenich. IFF sells a similar product under the name
Meijiff, Bedoukian under the name Lilytol.
