Usage
Use (Hekserij)
Phenylethyl phenylacetate has a fragrance reminiscent of honey and rose,
especially dog rose. The scent is not very strong, you usually use it undiluted.
Typical use is in honey accords and in sweet floral accords, especially rose.
You usually use between 0,1% and 5% of this substance in the fragrance
composition, but more is not a problem. It combines well with sweet scents,
animalic scents, tropical fruits and sweet flowers. It adds a sweet animality to
the fragrance. In perfumes it is mainly a base note, it is stable in most
products, including soap.

Phenylethyl phenylacetate is a colourless to pale yellow liquid at room
temperature. The purity is at least 98% and the substance has a fairly long
shelf life. It occurs in nature, but for use as a fragrance, the synthetic
version is used. It contains no animal raw materials, the fact that the smell is
reminiscent of honey has nothing to do with the chemical origin.
