Usage
Use (Hekserij)
SantalIff (IFF) has a scent reminiscent of sandalwood. The scent is not
particularly strong, undiluted use is common. Typical use is in wood accords,
especially sandalwood. You usually use between 0,1% and 10% of this substance in
the fragrance composition. It is first and foremost a substitute for sandalwood
essential oil. The scent is not the same, but it is very close. For that reason,
it can often replace the oil on a one-to-one basis. In perfumes it is mainly a
base note, it is stable in most products, including soap.

Properties (Hekserij)
SantalIff (IFF) is a colourless to pale yellow liquid at room temperature. The
purity is at least 92% (cis + trans isomer) and the substance has a fairly long
shelf life. It does not occur in nature, it is a synthetic substance. This is
largely based on vegetable raw materials. The manufacturer is the American IFF.
The same molecule is also sold under the names Hindinol (Takasago), Sandal
Mysore core, Sandaxol and a few more.
