Vanillin 25% in DPG has a warm spicy scent that is reminiscent of cookies, ice
cream and other things that smell like vanilla. The smell is not particularly
strong, further thinning is therefore rarely necessary. Typical use is in ambers
and gourmand fragrances. You usually use between 0.1% and 10% of this substance
in the fragrance composition. It combines well spices, woods and resins such as
labdanum, but also with heavy floral scents such as jasmine and honeysuckle. It
is mainly a base note in perfumes. Can be used in soap: there is a risk of
discoloration.

Vanillin 25% in DPG is a colorless to orange-yellow liquid at room temperature.
The substance has a fairly long shelf life. Vanillin occurs in nature, but for
use as a fragrance, the synthetic version is used. Vanillin occurs naturally in
vanilla (sticks), benzoin resins and styrax resin. DPG is a synthetic substance.
Vanillin is powdered, this solution is liquid which is easier with dosing,
especially in experimental work.
