Usage
Use (Hekserij)
Velvione (Giv) has a powdery musk fragrance with animalic (civet) aspects. The
scent is not very strong, and undiluted use is common. Typical use is in musk
accords. You usually use between 0,1% and 10% of this substance in the fragrance
composition. It fits anywhere you traditionally expect a musk to go: with
flowers, with wood, with tropical fruit. It is often used as an alternative to
nitro musks. In perfumes it is mainly a base note, it is stable in most
products, including soap and candles. Only at a low pH (< 4) does it perform
less well.

Velvione (Giv) is at room temperature a colourless to pale yellow liquid or
solid, or even both: a liquid with pieces. It melts around room temperature,
which is why its state can vary from time to time. The substance has a long
shelf life. It does not occur in nature. The manufacturer is the Swiss company
Givaudan.
