Trifernal (dsm-firmenich) is a very strong, highly diffusive green note with a natural, slightly bitter “crushed foliage” character—ideal for giving realistic greenery to lilac, hyacinth, violet, and muguet accords. It creates natural effects in florals, also works in aromatic and cologne styles, and is effective at very low dosages. In formulas it bridges top and heart, boosting freshness and clarity without synthetic harshness. Pair with leafy facets (e.g., cis-3-hexenol), galbanum, and muguet/lilac/hyacinth materials to build a convincing green aura. It's biodegradable and produced via green synthesis.

Trimofix has been accompanying perfumers since the 1960s, playing a significant role in both traditional and more contemporary fragrance formulations.  Information from the official IFF website: BACKGROUND Trimofix was first discovered in R&D in the late 1960’s when IFF chemists developed a process involving the trimerization of Isoprene using a special catalyst. It is a powerful, diffusive and complex woody note greatly loved by Fine Fragrance perfumers. A very substantive and performing molecule containing facets of ambergris, dry woody cedar characters accompanied by vetiver and musky undertones. GREAT COMBINATIONS Patchouli, Timbersilk, Cashmeran, Zenolide, Cedarwood Oil, Methyl Cedryl Ketone. USEFUL IN CREATING “Dry tones to ambergris, increasing the sweet incense and resinous facets of opoponax, labdanum and balsams notes and adding body & depth to leather, vetiver and tobacco notes.” WHY WE LOVE IT “Trimofix is powerful and diffusive woody note with an interesting synergy when combined with Ambermor increasing the fixative properties of your fragrance.”
